The design for this plate is from a plate painted by Leonard Lead for the Derby Porcelain Factory. The factory, now known as the Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Factory, is one of the oldest porcelain manufacturers in England. Delicate flowers and butterflies adorn the center and rim in soft hues of violet, rose, periwinkle, and pale yellow.
