With wire as her medium, Kristine Mays creates stunning, wearable works of art worthy of displaying boldly. She began this series, titled "Recognition," in 2015 as a reprieve from her larger pieces. Mays’ attention to detail is evident in the delicate yet sturdy manipulation of wire to create a myriad of shapes, from classic crowns to flowers sprouting from wire diadems. The crowns impart a sense of empowerment, welcoming the wearer to redefine themselves in new ways. Through her work, Mays invites not only self-reflection but also meditation on the world at large.
