The votes for women pin proudly waves in tribute to the women’s suffrage movement. This pin is inspired by an original felt campaign pennant (1910-1920) in the collection of the New-York Historical Society. Through the movement, which originated in 1848 in Seneca Falls, New York women’s suffrage advocates worked to educate the public about the validity of female enfranchisement. New York granted full voting rights to women in 1917, though American women did not gain suffrage until 1920 with the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
