This stunning frame brings out the intricate details of a sensational vase from Louis C. Tiffany (American, 1848–1933), held in The Met collection (ca. 1900). In the early 1890s, the famed Gilded Age designer crafted a way of pouring hues into molten glass for sublime shades and textures. He labeled the results "Favrile," derived from the Old English word fabrile, which means "hand-wrought". Tiffany's ingenious invention deservedly earned him great acclaim.
